Phnom Penh –
Today, exactly 23 July 2023, 9.7 million Cambodians voted. Head of delegation of Asia Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI) Centrist Organization Great Laksono monitoring the voting process up to vote counting at polling stations (TPS).
monitoring detikcom, the CAPDI group led by Head of Delegation Agung Laksono reviewed the TPS which was held at Toul Krok Primary School, Cambodia, Sunday (23/7/2023). Agung also saw the TPS at Indradevi High School.
At first, Agung saw the final voter list that had been posted on the board provided at the TPS. Agung seemed to observe the entire election process at the TPS.

There is something interesting about the fixed election list. Voters who are included in the final voter list are accompanied by a photo of the voter. TPS officers seem to match the voters’ faces with the photos listed before entering the voting booth.
Agung said that Indonesia could emulate this in the election process. Agung said that the DPT that includes a photo can reduce fraud in elections.
“I see that in Cambodia it can be done, of course in our country which also has technology like this it can be done. We will see the urgency of course being able to consider the KPU like this so it is impossible for someone who is not entitled to vote, then people have jockeys and so on,” said Agung.
“And this is the best way to have a photo, there is a name, everyone who comes must show their ID card, according to what is there, only then can the next process arrive at the ink marks through the index finger,” he added.
Agung hopes that the government, especially the KPU, will follow the example of the electoral system in Cambodia. Agung said that Indonesia could use school facilities for election venues such as in Cambodia.
“Yes, it is very possible, because our school has reached the sub-district and village levels. In fact, there are many places that can be used for general election purposes, with several other requirements, and I think this is actually the same as us,” said Agung.
“We don’t have too many teachers, schools have reached the villages, so in theory we can also implement and use it like that to reduce costs,” he continued.
Agung said the election process in Cambodia was peaceful. The people of Cambodia, said Agung, looked very enthusiastic.
“Yes, not only in the city, I heard that in the regions too, I hope that by the time the vote count is also like that, so security is going well, it shows that there is support from the community,” said Agung.
“Indeed, the election is a closed proportional system, but because the process is democratic, it gets a positive reaction from the public, as evidenced by the number of new voters 3 hours 4 hours, only half of that average is above 2/3, some are 75, some are 70 percent, so this shows that they are very enthusiastic and exercise their rights to carry out the voting as well as possible,” he continued.
Furthermore, Agung said the situation in Cambodia was very conducive during the election. The atmosphere of a democratic party in Cambodia, said Agung, was real.
“I think what’s also interesting is that we heard that in areas other than the cities we visited, there were friends who went to the area, they didn’t hear of riots, there were disturbances, so from a security perspective it was good, we really saw this so the atmosphere of a democratic party was really real,” he said.
