Last Friday the first date of the 2023 season of the Formula Ford Vintage Championship was held on the Grand Prix circuit (4,256 km) of the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome, but for Alejandro Aguilar “Aguilucho” it did not turn out as expected because he had engine problems in his single-seater.
It was an awkward situation for former Super Touring Car champion Alejandro Aguilar, who is not used to being behind, saying: “Since I went out on the track, the car had problems. For this race, an attempt was made to correct the power supply failures from the previous race, and they just got worse. What was expected to be solved, did not turn out well”.
“The engine that came in the car when I bought it had been giving problems, in last year’s race it overheated and this time, from the first sessions it didn’t work well. In the first race I only completed six laps and I noticed that the engine was still underpowered, the pressure went to the ground and the temperature increased. So I had to withdraw. For the second race we didn’t go out anymore”, assured the driver of the car No. 2 of Kemm Racing.
“A new engine will have to be made. It’s a shame because a lot of work was done on the car and I trained in Querétaro with a view to this competition. I was hoping to do well as I know the circuit very well and we have been successful there. In short, we will have to wait for the next race to have a better engine that will allow us to perform well”, concluded the popular Aguilucho.
The second date of the Formula Ford Vintage Championship will take place at the EcoCentro Racetrack in Querétaro on May 19.
