This Saturday municipalities such as Águilas or Cartagena would be celebrating the carnivals, also districts of Murcia such as Cabezo de Torres. All celebrations have been canceled, although there will be virtual events during these days.
However, in Águilas there is considerable concern about the possibility of illegal parties being held and surveillance by the City Council and the Government Delegation has been reinforced.
In Águilas, the Government Delegation will reinforce surveillance at the request of the City Council. 150 troops will integrate the device formed by Local Police, Civil Guard and other reinforcement units from different parts of the Region.
It is worrying that, although the Carnivals have been suspended, these days there may be those who incur in illegal celebrations, either in private homes or in open-air bottles. So said the mayor Mª Carme Moreno
This concern also extends to Lorca, a municipality where many residents traditionally go to the coastal town. Diego José Mateos has asked Lorca and Lorca not to violate the perimeter confinement that limits travel in this municipal area.
To this is added that from Wednesday the hospitality industry can already open its terraces in Águilas. To avoid the call effect, some hoteliers in this town have chosen not to open until next week, as pointed out by its mayor.
Moreno recalled that it was precisely the celebration of parties and meetings with more people than allowed by health restrictions that caused the rebound in coronavirus cases that occurred after Christmas in this municipality.
