The Monitoring Commission of the La Pilica de Águilas Agrarian Demonstration Center (CDA) has agreed to promote new technology transfer projects related to tomato cultivation in organic farming to evaluate the behavior of new rose-type tomato varieties. With this, the CDA, belonging to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, works for the differentiation of the tomato of the Region of Murcia with a product of greater nutritional and ecological value.
The CDA Monitoring Commission is made up of representatives of the Ministry’s Training and Technology Transfer Service, headed by the Head of the Service, Antonio Aroca, and of FECAMUR Unión de Cooperativas, headed by its manager, José Martínez Usero.
Increasing the quality of the region’s productions and the development of a more sustainable agriculture are the main objectives of the Ministry of Agriculture and are in line with the objectives set in the ‘Strategy from farm to table’ (Farm to fork ) for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system of the European Union. It urges the European agricultural sector to reduce dependence on pesticides and antimicrobials, reduce excess fertilization and increase organic farming, a change that can bring environmental, health and social benefits.
