World-Today-News.com Senior Editor: Welcome, Daniel. Always great to have an expert like yourself on the show. Tommy Milone is a known commodity in MLB, but can you tell our readers more about his specific skill set that makes him a good fit for the Dominican Winter League?
Daniel Vargas: Thanks for having me. Tommy Milone’s a crafty lefty with a deceptively good fastball. He mixes it with a cutter, curveball, and changeup to keep hitters off balance. what makes him especially interesting for the LIDOM is his experience. he throws strikes, and that’s crucial for a league known for its aggressive hitting. he’s not going to overpower every batter, but he’s smart, he knows how to pitch, and that’s valuable anywhere, especially a league as passionate as the dominican.
World-Today-News.com Senior Editor: Milone has had a few outstanding seasons in the Dominican Republic. Is this a familiar landing spot for him?
Daniel Vargas: Absolutely. This will be Milone’s second stint in the LIDOM, and he was absolutely dominant back in 2018-19 with the Tigres del Licey. I mean, a 0.00 ERA over 34 innings is just astonishing. The Dominican fans remember that performance,so there’s definitely some buzz around him returning.
World-Today-News.com Senior Editor: And what can we expect to see from him with the Águilas Cibaeñas this season?
Daniel Vargas: I think we’ll see Milone anchoring a strong rotation. The Águilas are contenders every year, but they’ve lost a couple of key players. Milone brings veteran leadership and that competitive fire that can make a difference for a team with championship aspirations.
