EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTIAGO. – Major League players Christopher Morel and Elehuris Montero will travel with the Águilas Cibaeñas this Thursday, for the Titanes del Caribe series that will be held this weekend at the Citi Field stadium in New York City.
Morel made himself felt in 2023 with the Chicago Cubs, where he was a sensation with his cheerful and effective play.
While Montero was part of the Colorado Rockies, where he also had an excellent performance.
The Águilas will travel to New York City this Thursday, on a flight that will depart at 5:00 in the afternoon from Cibao International Airport, in Santiago de los Caballeros.
The first match of the Titanes del Caribe series, between Águilas Cibaeñas and the Tigres del Licey, will be on Friday at 6:00 pm, at the Citi Field stadium in New York, home of the Mets.
The games that will be held Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
POSIBLE ROSTER
Although some players could stay, the Águilas’ latest roster has catchers Francisco Peña, Carlos Paulino and Julio E. Rodríguez.
Among the infield players are Starlin Castro (former Yankee), Jonathan Villar, Andretty Cordero, Yairo Muñoz, Ramón Torres, Luis Valenzuela and the Cuban César Prieto.
As outfielders there is Juan Lagares who played most of his career in the Major Leagues with the New York Mets, in the same setting where it will be played.
Also included are Alexander Canario, Jerar Encarnación, Yefri Pérez and Cuba’s reinforcement, Yadiel Hernández.
Among the pitchers are Osvaldo Bidó, Luis Ortiz, Jhan Mariñez, Richard Rodríguez, Ramón Rosso, Anderson Severino, Gerson Garabito, Wendolyn Bautista, Francis Martes, Ariel Miranda, among others.
TECHNICAL BODY
As manager is Tony Peña, who spent many years with the New York Yankees and who has been in charge of the Águilas Cibaeñas since Tuesday.
Another former Yankee who is in the delegation is Luis Poland, who played several seasons with the New York City striped uniform team.
Tony Peña Jr., is the assistant of his father, Andy Fermín, a first-class coach; as well as Luis Rivera, Melky Cabrera (ex-Yankee), Junior Fermín, Ricardo Nanita, Fernando Hernández, Claudio Almonte and Franklin Bravo.
