Águilas and Potros defeat Cafés and Titanes; Texans sweep Patriots

Philadelphia., Jalen Hurts threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, including a 45-yard strike to DeVonta Smith that gave Philadelphia the lead and the Eagles held on to beat the Cleveland Browns 20-16 on Sunday.

Hurts also connected for a 22-yard touchdown pass with AJ Brown, who reappeared alongside Smith after both receivers were sidelined with injuries. The Eagles cannot afford to lose them for long periods if they want to go far in the postseason.

After a week of rest, the Philadelphia team (3-2) suffered against the Browns (1-5) in front of a subdued fan base. Before Smith’s touchdown, Eagles fans only got excited when they chanted for the firing of coach Nick Sirianni.

Down 20-13, the Browns reached Eagles territory near the end of the game but could only get Dustin Hopkins’ 31-yard field goal. Deshaun Watson was pushed off the field at the 2-yard line, then threw an incomplete pass on third down.

The Eagles took possession of the ball with 3:54 and did not allow Cleveland to have it again, with Hurts making a 40-yard connection with Brown to put the game away.

Joe Flacco throws two TD passes and Colts beat Titans 20-17

Joe Flacco threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Indianapolis Colts to a 20-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

The veteran quarterback went 1-1 in his second game as a starter for the Colts (3-3) after second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson was sidelined with an injury again, this time to his right hip.

Richardson, the fourth overall draft pick out of Florida in 2023, has yet to face Will Levis, the 33rd overall pick in the same draft from Tennessee. The Colts, with nine on injured reserve, also were without Jonathan Taylor, the 2021 NFL rushing champion, out for the second straight game.

The Titans (1-4) have lost three straight games to their division rival. They will have to wait until November to try to win their first home game this season for first-year coach Brian Callahan.

Tennessee had opportunities during the first two quarters and took the lead in the third but failed to achieve the goal while the Colts responded by opening the scoring in the fourth quarter after scoring 10 points and never lost the lead.

Texans beat Patriots 41-21 in Maye’s first starting game

CJ Stroud threw three touchdown passes and the Houston Texans ruined New England rookie quarterback Drake Mayer’s first start with a 41-21 victory over the Patriots on Sunday.

Joe Mixon ran for 102 yards and caught a touchdown pass from Stroud. Stefon Diggs had six catches for 77 yards and a score for the AFC South-leading Texans (5-1), and Tank Dell had seven catches for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Dameon Pierce finished with 76 yards on eight carries. Will Anderson Jr. recorded three sacks for Houston, which has won three straight games.

The Patriots (1-5) started Maye, the third overall pick in the NFL draft, in place of veteran Jacoby Brissett. Mayer completed 20 of 33 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 38 yards, but was intercepted twice and sacked four times, one of which resulted in a lost fumble.

Both teams took the field without key players on offense.

A week after committing 12 penalties for 105 yards in a loss to visiting Miami, the Patriots were penalized nine times for 50 yards.
