Segovia City Council will open the Agustín Fernández Pavilion in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood to the public so that the 1,500-metre Olympic final race, in which the Segovia athlete Águeda Marqués will be taking part, can be followed live.
The television broadcast of the race, scheduled by the Paris Olympic Games organisers for 8.15pm, will be projected onto one of the walls of the pavilion, whose doors will open at 7.30pm to allow the public to occupy the stands in sufficient time.
The Segovian athlete, Águeda Marqués, is having an outstanding performance at the Olympic event where, despite not qualifying for the semi-finals at her first attempt, she did manage to do so in the repechage round, where she beat her personal best, with a time of 4´01″60. She subsequently secured a place in the final by getting close to that mark again, stopping the clock at 4´01″90.
In her first Olympic participation, Marqués, the only Spanish qualifier, will run the final at the Stade de France alongside the elite runners in the women’s 1,500-metre category, including Ethiopian Diribe Welteji, as well as Jessica Hull, Nikki Hiltz, Gudaf Tsegay, Susan Ejore, Agatha Guillemont, Faith Kipyegon, Georgia Bell, Elle St. Pierre, Laura Muir and Klaudia Kazimierska.
