New York, 17 Oct. (askanews) – The Agrigento capital of Italian culture 2025 event was presented at the Italian Institute of Culture in New York, thanks to the collaboration of the Magna Grecia Foundation. In 2025, Agrigento will be one of the most important events in the country, with the inauguration which will take place in January by the President of the Republic, to then give rise to a series of very high profile cultural events which will take place throughout the year.
Local, national and international cultural events aimed at enriching the initial cultural dossier will be added to the events that are part of the dossier approved by the Ministry of Culture. Strengthened by its past as a land of emigration, today Agrigento and the province present an extraordinary sensitivity towards hospitality, within a context of valorization of the extraordinary cultural heritage, the result of influences that have followed one another over the centuries: Arab, Norman, Greek, Roman, Byzantine. A heritage of immense value, both material and immaterial, which must be combined with the young and brilliant talents of the area. A cultural ferment that involves the 43 municipalities of the province, public and private bodies, foundations, universities, archaeological park, archbishop’s curia, historical archive, schools that are betting on connections, on creating new social, human, economic and cultural value.
A great showcase to stimulate dreams and suggestions that must be translated into reality. A great, stimulating and fascinating challenge. Agrigento, the eternal wonder.
