agriculture settled US $ 12,500 million more than in 2020

The liquidation of foreign exchange in the agribusiness sector ended 2021 in the same way as the whole year: at record levels.

As reported by the Chamber of the Oil Industry of the Argentine Republic (CIARA) and the Cereal Exporters Center (CEC), in December US $ 2,678.3 million entered the country.

It was 58% more than in the same month of 2020 and “a historic mark in this century for the last month of the year,” said CIARA-CEC.

Record of dollars

In this way, throughout 2021 agriculture ended with an accumulated liquidation of US $ 32,807.9 million.

This meant an increase of 62% or US $ 12,500 million more than the US $ 20,274.4 million the previous year.

By a very wide margin it is a record: it surpassed by almost U $ S 8,000 million to the U $ S 25,033 million of 2014, which was until today the highest figure registered.

Key to this result was that soybeans and corn last year reached their best prices since 2012. And something similar is happening right now with wheat.

“The reconstitution of stocks in the central countries maintains high international prices of commodities, while the wheat campaign began in Argentina”, underlined CIARA-CEC.
