From the problems linked to the territorial viability of agricultural vehicles to the damage caused by ‘soil-eating’ photovoltaic panels on the ground, from the speculative maneuvers that put entire agri-food sectors at risk to the health dangers deriving from the consumption of ultra-processed foods, up to the determination to contain the wild boar plague through depopulation. These were some of the priorities at the center of the meeting that took place between the new President of the Province, Luigi Benzi, and the leaders of Coldiretti Alessandria.
An important opportunity to highlight the strong points and the necessary interventions for the agricultural sector, with the renewed commitment to collaboration that has always characterized the relationships between the Organization and the institutions in the area.
President Benzi, who took office just over a month ago at Palazzo Ghilini after four terms as Mayor of Quargnento, was given a document in which Coldiretti Alessandria summarized the battles undertaken for a new food sovereignty.
“We are living in a delicate moment in which we must keep our alert high by monitoring crisis situations but also by vigorously continuing training and information activities. Collaboration with the institutions is essential to continue in the direction undertaken: promoting a virtuous system means creating a fair distribution of value along the entire food supply chain and taking a precise position against unfair practices to protect and benefit the true Made in Italy. The future, like yesterday and today, is in the name of identity, distinctiveness and biodiversity: we are convinced pro-Europeans, but in the defense of our history against the principle of homologation”, stated the President of Coldiretti Alessandria Mauro Bianco.
“Being able to dialogue with President Benzi was also an opportunity to highlight the problems linked to transit on cycle paths that run along the ridges of waterways and the need to review authorisations. We have asked, as requested by our members, the request for “passage for promiscuous use that allows the working of the land accessible through them” – added the Director of Coldiretti Alessandria Roberto Bianco -. This problem concerns both those who collaborate or have commercial activities with the agricultural company. Furthermore, for access to the city, we have requested authorization for the free transit of agricultural vehicles using the ring road, as already happens in other areas of Italy”.
During the meeting Luigi Benzi underlined the strategic nature of agricultural activity for the territory of the province of Alessandria, for the service that entrepreneurs provide in environmental sustainability and landscape protection, demonstrating that he is an expert and attentive to the problems that the sector is facing , in particular on the valorisation of production, and assured that he will act as spokesperson for the demands of the agricultural sector at a regional and national level.
