Agriculture ministers of 5 Eastern European countries will discuss food security – 2024-08-27 01:01:52

/ world today news/ On July 1, the Polish Minister of Agriculture, Robert Tellus, announced that on July 19, a meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania will be held in Poland, where food security and the issue will be discussed for Ukrainian agricultural products. He stated that protecting the Polish market from the influx of Ukrainian agricultural products is a priority and the reason for the meeting is that Poland’s neighboring countries are affected by a similar problem. The Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture will also be invited to the meeting.

After the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine, a large number of agricultural products could not be exported due to the blockade of the Black Sea ports. Thanks to the efforts of the UN and Turkey, a large amount of them were sent to other regions through Eastern European countries. Due to unresolved logistical and other issues, many Ukrainian agricultural products can only be sold in Eastern European countries, causing a price shock for local agricultural products and protests among farmers.
