Agricultural laws can be frozen; Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an all-party meeting | Farmers Protest

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that controversial agricultural laws will be frozen for 18 months. The Prime Minister made this clear at an all-party meeting ahead of the Union Budget. The Prime Minister said that the Central Government was approaching the problems of the farmers with an open mind. The Agriculture Minister’s promise of the last 22 years to freeze law enforcement still stands. The Prime Minister reiterated the statement of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar that another discussion was only a phone call away.

Despite 11 rounds of talks between the farmers’ union leaders and the central government, no agreement was reached. Despite the central government’s promise to suspend law enforcement for a year and a half if the agitation ends, farmers say there is no compromise without repealing all three laws.
