Agricultural – Freiburg im Breisgau – Winemaker Jessica Himmelsbach is the new Baden Wine Queen – Economy

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Jessica Himmelsbach (27) is the new Baden wine queen. The winemaker from Heitersheim in Markgräflerland (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) was chosen by the Baden Winegrowers’ Association on Friday. Her wine princesses are Lisa Huber from Durbach (Ortenaukreis) and Geraldine Liebs from Freiburg-Opfingen. A specialist jury chose the 72nd Baden Wine Queen and her entourage in the Freiburg Concert Hall for the 2022/23 office year.

“The new wine sovereigns proved in the election that they are worthy representatives of viticulture in Baden. With Baden wine, they will also represent the joie de vivre and the special charm of the Baden wine-growing region and of the whole of Baden-Württemberg,” congratulated Agriculture Minister Peter Hauk (CDU). Viticulture is of particular importance for Baden-Württemberg. As the federal state with the second largest area under vines, it is an important economic and landscape-defining factor. The “cultural asset wine” is also closely linked to tradition.

The Baden wine sovereigns have been elected since 1950. According to the association, women with an industry background, such as oenology students, winegrowers or women from a winegrowing family, can apply. The Wine Queen, for example, opens larger wine festivals, can be booked for wine tasting and is intended to advertise the nine Baden wine-growing areas throughout Germany, abroad and on social networks. According to the information, around 200 days of use come together.
