BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) — The Agricultural Bank of China, one of the four major state-owned banks, has stepped up loan issuance and introduced innovative products and services to support the development of county-level regions in China.
The bank said its outstanding loans to county-level regions amounted to 8.05 trillion yuan (about 1.16 trillion US dollars) by the end of March, up 719.5 billion yuan, or 9.82 percent, from the beginning of this year.
More financial support was directed toward key areas in agricultural production, with newly added bank loans for spring plowing exceeding 200 billion yuan by the end of March.
The bank also offered many special financial products for major grain growers and agricultural material traders.
By the end of the first quarter, the bank’s outstanding loans to farmers amounted to 970.5 billion yuan, up 190.1 billion yuan from the beginning of this year.
