Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă announced on Monday evening that they had agreed on all aspects related to the pension law, and the project “enters the Parliament in a straight line”, being supported by the entire coalition.
„All aspects related to the Pensions Law, including those regarding funding sources, were clarified at the Coalition meeting this afternoon. Therefore, the Law enters the Parliament in a straight line, being supported by the entire Coalition“, the prime minister wrote on his Facebook page, after the coalition meeting.
“At the same time, we decided that, together with Mr. President Ciucă, we will submit one as soon as possible project to combat tax evasion and increase budget receipts. I assure the pensioners that we will keep our word! Pensions will be indexed, and inequities eliminated by recalculation!” added Ciolacu.
The Prime Minister also announces that the construction of the budget for next year is starting, “following that in the next few days we will meet with the Ministers of Education and Health to clarify the problems related to salaries related to the two fields”.
“Also this week we will also meet with the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of the Environment to establish the last details regarding the reorganization of the two ministries”, Ciolacu also states.
For his part, PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă announced, also on Facebook, that the most important lines on which the draft of the consolidated budget for 2024 will be drawn up have been established.
“During the discussions, I argued that the Health and Education portfolios should have the priority in the debates related to the financing of the ministries, and we will start the discussions with them in the coming days. The liberal team present at the coalition meeting argued that the 2024 budget draft should clearly provide for the continuation of investments, with priority given to the money that will be allocated to the three major funding lines: the “Anghel Saligny” National Program, the National Local Development Program ( PNDL) and the projects carried out through the National Investment Company (CNI)”, added Ciucă.
„At the same time, all the elements related to the sustainability of the financing of the measures included in the new pension law were clarified“, said the PNL leader.
He says that the internal reorganization of the ministries was also analyzed, the first two targeted being that of Agriculture and that of the Environment. “The aim is to make decision-making processes more flexible, so that institutional structures become more efficient, spending less public money. In the same register, we discussed improving the collection.”
“Thus, together with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, we will sign and submit to the Parliament a draft law on combating tax evasion”, states Ciucă.
The coalition meeting lasted over four hours.
The pension law goes to a final vote in the Senate on Tuesday, according to a decision made by the Senate’s permanent office on Monday. The draft law initiated by the Ciolacu government will be debated on Tuesday morning in the specialized commissions, and on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. it will be voted on in the Senate. Next comes the Chamber of Deputies for debates and the final vote. Details here.
