Agolada recovers normal bus transportation to perform mammograms

The two vans will be used in the Works and Social Services departments.

The City Council of Agolada recovered on Monday at noon the free transport service that is offered to women who are summoned at the Gil Casares Hospital to undergo periodic check-ups against breast cancer.

The Agoladés government wants to confront the criticism of the exedil Xosé Ramón Blanco (he left the corporation in 2009) and clarifies that this transport service does not depend on the Council, but on the Xunta, given that the early cancer detection program depends on Health. On Friday, 13 people affected by the lack of the bus at 7:30 a.m. decided to file a complaint, with the help of the social worker. The rest of the summoned decided to move to Santiago on their own. The City Council points out in this regard that the mayor proposed to call some taxis, but the 12 women from the first shift decided to wait for Sergas to summon them again.

Sergas confirmed to the council, after several calls to different phones, that the day before yesterday, Monday, there would be transportation. However, the transport failed again at 7.30 am. At about 9.00 the person in charge of the Sanidade service called to say that the bus would come later, as it was.

Given that there would be no first-hour transportation and there were four women waiting in Praza do Concello, they were asked to transfer them in the Civil Protection van. “It was four o’clock at that time, at no time were they handpicked”, Emphasizes the Council, correcting the insinuations of the ex-councilor spilled in social networks. And by the way he explains that the Council cannot do any kind of privilege in this type of test because it does not know which people are or are not summoned to do this test.

Two new municipal vehicles

The City Council of Agolada has just acquired two new municipal vehicles with its own funds, two vans that will be used by the workers of Obras y Servicios Sociais. The mayor, Luis Calvo, indicates that this acquisition was possible thanks to “the savings plan that we are doing during this term.” The vehicles were very necessary because the works personnel work in several places at the same time, and the Servizos Sociais staff required a vehicle to travel to the homes and attend to the needs of the dependent persons.
