Holiday music In concerts, listeners have the opportunity to enjoy excellent music in a relaxed atmosphere and in conversations to get acquainted with the artists. This time, violinist Daniils Bulajevs, one of the most promising young musicians in Latvia, who has been attributed the abilities of a prodigy since childhood, will visit. At the age of ten, he played a solo concert Born in Latvia, with its felt and mature violin playing causing a wide audience resonance. Daniils has given concerts with such groups as Kremerata Baltica, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, Moscow Virtuosos, Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Macao Symphony Orchestra, and Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. He has won Grand Prize and the first prize in many prestigious competitions.
Together with Daniils Bulajevs, the concert will feature pianist Agnese Egliņa, a reliable stage partner of many artists, equally bright both as a soloist and as a concertmaster. She is one of the most active musicians in Latvia and the initiator of new works by many Latvian composers. The pianist’s performance always stands out with sparkling energy and outstanding professionalism. A. Egliņa has received the Grand Music Award in the 2010 category For outstanding work in the ensemble.
The program will feature compositions by Spanish, French, Argentinian and Turkish composers, in which the dance temperament alternates with virtuoso splendor and salon elegance. You will be able to hear Spanish dance composed by Pablo de Sarasate Zapateado, Maurice Ravel’s Rhapsody Gypsy, made after M. Ravel ‘s encounter with the Hungarian violinist Jellyie d’Aranji, to whom the composer asked to play Roma music themes and demonstrate the possibilities of playing the violin. From the Romantic era violin virtuoso and composer Henri Vietnam will be able to hear the melodic Dream, but the world-famous Turkish pianist Fazil Says has combined the spirit of folk music with jazz rhythms in his Sonata for Violin and Piano. The concert will also feature works by tango master Astor Piacola, with whose performances Daniils Bulajevs has already delighted listeners in Latvia many times. In the cycle History of Tango the composer has depicted different stages of tango development. The hot-blooded aches and the lure of the nightclub in A. Piacola’s handwriting have been revealed in new colors, in which tango becomes music created for the concert hall stages, not just for the dance floor.
