Daniela Marilungo, former independent director of the Juve board of directors and member of the control and risk committee, as reported by La Stampa and as reported by Calcio & Finanza, during the 8-hour interview told the investigators of the “Prisma” investigation: “On several occasions we have (together with other directors of the BoD, ed) asked that the complete documentation of the power of attorney be given to us and we were repeatedly reassured that none of the papers in the proceeding were relevant for the purposes of decisions on financial statements. 24 November all of us independents had asked for the complete documents of the criminal proceedings to be made available and in particular the documents which turned out to be outside the registered office to allow us to act informed. I have never had those documents, and this is one of the reasons so I decided to resign, also because Juve’s trusted professionals “said A” and Deloitte “said Z”.
Agnelli “said that they were afraid of being investigated. If you stay with us we will go ahead to the end in all the venues. I want to reassure you that the company has always operated in the right way and in compliance with the law. The sword of Damocles that represented us Agnelli and Gabasio was that if we hadn’t approved the budget by a certain date we wouldn’t have been able to register for the championship. We go to Agnelli’s office and find engineer John Elkann, with a soft and collaborative attitude, who says: “I came here to reassure you and tell you everything you want to ask about the situation that Andrea has indicated to you. You have all my understanding and esteem, decide the course of action, know that I am available for any further request for information”.
According to today’s edition of Il Corriere della Sera, the then independent director is advised by her lawyer to “do not approve anything, do not approve this budget otherwise you will go straight towards the consequences you want to avoid”.
