Agfa seeks buyer for printing plate division | Economy

The process is well underway: prospective buyers have submitted their first acquisition proposals. The sales process is therefore in the second round. The candidate buyers are investment funds.

The Mortselse group placed the division in a separate legal entity early last year, which is often seen as the harbinger of a sale. The department produces printing plates and prepress technology for printing companies. Worldwide, almost half of all newspaper printers and almost three quarters of all banknote printers use Agfa’s technology.

Offset last year accounted for a turnover of 748 million euros, which corresponds to 43 percent of Agfa’s group turnover. After the sale of Offset, Agfa will still consist of Healthcare IT (medical imaging), equipment and software for radiology departments of hospitals (Radiology Solutions) and printers and inks for industrial applications (Digital Print & Chemicals).
