Agent who shot woman in Alkmaar acted out of severe weather NOW

The police officer who shot dead a woman in Alkmaar in November last year, acted in severe weather and is therefore not prosecuted. This is reported by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) on Friday after an investigation by the state police.

The woman showed confused behavior on November 19 and had already destroyed and attacked someone with a hammer before the officers arrived.

“When they arrive in Priemstraat, the two officers are confronted with the woman who has a claw hammer and a large knife in her hands. In view of the report that the police officers have received and what they see themselves, there is an imminent threat of danger.”

The officers tried to overpower the woman by using pepper spray. This had to be done quickly, because around the corner from the conscious location is a primary school that could open at any time. A warning shot was also fired. Despite this, the woman approached the police menacingly, after which she was shot at.

“The actions of the police officer can therefore, in the opinion of the Public Prosecution Service, be justified on the grounds of severe weather.”
