Lhe winegrowers of costières-de-nîmes, an appellation of the southern Rhône valley located in the department of Gard, south of Nîmes, are expecting nearly 3,000 wine and gastronomy lovers on the occasion of the 12e edition of the Vines toquées event. A route of just over 7 km will allow you to discover the vineyard, in the eastern part of the appellation, between the communes of Beaucaire and Bellegarde. The start will take place at Château Mourgues du Grès, one of the most famous and renowned properties in the region. The walkers, equipped with a tasting glass and cutlery, will meet more than 40 winegrowers, whose wines they will taste in harmony with six dishes imagined by Christophe Ducros, chef of the starred restaurant La Maison d’Uzès, setting of luxury located in the heart of the ducal city. The walk will end with music, in an oak wood, in the middle of the vines.
A night version is also offered at the start of the festivities. On Friday May 20, at nightfall, a 3 km route will offer the possibility of discovering top-of-the-range cuvées and old vintages from around twenty winegrowers, in a more intimate atmosphere, in the form of three gastronomic breaks. In the kitchen for the occasion: six chefs from Gard aux chefs, an association created in 2015 by 5 starred chefs and which today brings together more than 30 local gastronomy players. www.gardauxchefs.fr

“We are colleagues, they write wine, I make books! laughs Daniel Picouly. It was last January, on the occasion of the Biography Festival, which takes place every year in Nîmes, that the writer expressed the wish to rediscover the terroirs and the wines of the region by going to meet the winegrowers . Prix Renaudot 1999, Daniel Picouly, also a television presenter, has just published tears of wine, an autobiographical novel, “perhaps the most personal”. He will take part in the event from Friday evening, during the nocturnal walk, and will live this weekend in the heart of the vineyards alongside the winegrowers and the participants.
