A large blood drive is being organized this Wednesday, October 6 in Florida. For the occasion, the concert hall will be open to the public from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The EFS would have liked to be able to provide musical entertainment during this collection, but the health protocol, which is still very strict, does not yet allow it.
“The Florida wants to welcome us in a more festive way”, it will be done, specifies the communications officer of the EFS, Nathalie Albor.
A collaboration which seems to bear fruit since all the niches have already been reserved. Despite this, the EFS invites everyone to come forward. “We will try to insert them or redirect them if the crowd is too high for the next collections in the city,” says Nathalie Albor.
Other collections are already planned.
A collection will take place on October 18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Passage-d’Agen, and another will take place on October 20 at Stadium d’Agen between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The EFS recalls that the blood donation is “a simple and united gesture which makes it possible to treat a million patients each year”. And because of the very short lifespan of blood products (42 days for red blood cells, 7 days for platelets), it is essential that donors mobilize every day so that reserves are replenished regularly.
In addition, surgeries are rescheduled and the need for blood is high. Demand is growing and collections are not all maintained, like those planned for Marseille, which had to be canceled due to the recent floods …
As a reminder, it is imperative to arrive at your appointment well hydrated, to have eaten and to be at least 18 years old. An identity document is systematically requested for a blood donation.
