Microsoft and World’s Edge announced today that Age of Mythology: Retold is now available on Steam, Windows PC, Xbox and via Xbox Cloud Gaming! This is the first time that an Age of Empires or Age of Mythology game will be released simultaneously for PC and Xbox – an important milestone for the franchise.
Age of Mythology: Retold updates and improves on the classic Age of Mythology from over two decades ago, with optimized graphics, audio and gameplay changes. Challenge yourself in the 50-mission single-player campaign or take on goddesses, gods, monsters and minions in epic battles. An all-new mode, “Arena of the Gods“, is also planned and offers a new variation of the age gameplay format. More information on “Arena of the Gods“ will be announced shortly.
Whether you are a newbie or an expert, Age of Mythology: Retold offers the right introduction for every level. For newbies, there is a tutorial that can be accessed via the “The campaign“ in the main menu. It guides you through the basics of the game, from selecting and controlling units to your first combat missions and other valuable tips.
Play against the AI or compete in multiplayer mode
If you want to test your skills immediately, you can do so in the “Skirmish“ mode against the AI: Simply select your desired pantheon and the difficulty level of the AI and set the map – and you’re ready to go. Or show your strategic skills against other players in multiplayer mode in “Quick Match” or “Ranked“-Spielen.

Age of Mythology: Retold also has many surprises in store for experienced players. Look forward to new divine spells, Nordic units such as the Hirdman and the Godi, and numerous revisions to units, technologies and skills. In the Age of Wonders, you can improve your mythical units and use divine spells more often and more cost-effectively. The Premium Edition also offers exclusive content such as new gods and mythical battles.
