A story expansion for the second installment of Age of Empires has been announced, which will introduce, among others, five unique scenarios. Moreover, we learned about the plans for the third and fourth parts, and video footage from mobile AoE was presented.

While today’s broadcast dedicated to the near future of the Age of Empires brand, a new story expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition was announced. The expansion titled The Victors and Vanquished will debut on March 14 on personal computers and Xbox consoles.
- To play the expansion, you will need to have Age of Empires II Definitive Edition.
- The Victors and Vanquished will offer 19 scenarios.
- 14 of them are to be inspired by the most popular content created by the community.
- 5 historical scenarios were created from scratch by developers from the World’s Edge studio.
- During the new scenarios, we will have to “step into the skin” of such rulers as Ragnar Lothbrok, Oda Nobunaga and Charlemagne.
- Missions from the community have been “polished” by the creators. Numerous corrections were made, balance was changed, quality-of-life changes were implemented and original music and dubbing were added.
Interestingly, when revealing the expansion, the authors mentioned that they still had no intention of abandoning Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

Finally, I would like to add that the developers from the World’s Edge studio boasted that the latest expansion for AoE IV, Sultans Ascend, is the best-selling expansion in the history of the brand. All games from the Age of Empires series were supposed to have sold over 50 million copies in total.
This number will probably increase in the near future, because until February 29, all installments of the series and their expansions have been discounted – by up to 50%.
