Actor Ahn Seong-ki, who recently revealed his battle with blood cancer, won the Achievement Award at the 58th Grand Bell Awards. Ahn Sung-ki, who was unable to attend the film festival, expressed his gratitude and current health conditions through a video.
On the 9th, the “58th Grand Bell Awards” was held at the Millennium Hall of Konkuk University in Seoul.
On this day, the honor of the Merit Award went to Ahn Seong-ki. Ahn Seong-ki, who appeared in the video, said, “First of all, I’d like to congratulate this year’s award winners.”
He continued, “I’ve lived a long time as a movie star, and thought I’d never age, and I’ve lived forgetting my age, but recently I’ve realized that time and age can’t be stopped.”
Ahn Sung-ki said that Korean films and directors are attracting the attention of people all over the world. He said, “The root of that glory was planted and nurtured by our senior directors, and I think it’s the result of the expertise and sweat of our outstanding directors today.”
At the same time, regarding her current health condition, she said: “You worry so much about my health, but it’s getting better. We’ll see you in a new movie.”
Afterwards, director Kim Han-min, who took the stage to present the New Director Award, said, “Elder Ahn Seong-ki has recovered a lot and is training. I had a cup of tea a few days ago. I think I’ll see you again at the movie site.
In early September, Ahn Sung-ki confessed to suffering from blood cancer. Ahn Seong-ki’s agency, Artist Company, said, “Actor Ahn Seong-ki is currently undergoing treatment for blood cancer and is getting as good as he gets on a regular basis.”
Meanwhile, Ahn Seong-gi was born in 1952 and turns 70 this year. Ahn Seong-ki, who made his debut in the 1957 film “Twilight Train”, appeared in about 160 films, including 70 as a child and 90 as an adult, and earned the title of national actor.
