Åge Aleksandersen with support for Clas Brede Bråthen: – Difficult to put into words

– I have great respect for the job Clas Brede Bråthen has done. Not least the work he has done for women’s jumping nationally and internationally, writes Åge Aleksandersen on his Facebook page.

Thus, the quarrel between the two warring parties in ski-Norway has caused another distinctive personality to flag his sympathy for the sports director that the Ski Association does not trust.

– It is difficult to put into words. Åge has been a prominent figure throughout my life. What makes an impression is when people who know me a little or a lot give me good testimonials. It makes it easier to stand straight back through demanding times, says Clas Brede Bråthen Dagbladet.

The conflict started in earnest on 17 August when TV 2 revealed that the Norwegian Ski Association wanted to terminate the contract with ski jumping manager Clas Brede Bråthen. This news was immediately met with a demand from success coach Alexander Stöckl and Norway’s best jumpers.

Later, VG published a letter documenting that Bråthen was already in December 2020 threatened with dismissal. The reason was that they called for a greater gender equality focus in their own union. The Ski Association did not like this.

In the meantime, the conflict has grown so great that Bråthen has filed a lawsuit against his own employer. At the same time, the Norwegian Ski Association called Bråthen to a discussion meeting, which is the usual procedure for termination.

– For the first time I use this site for something other than my music

In February, the Winter Olympics in China are on the poster. Four months before the opening ceremony in Beijing, the level of conflict is sky high in the heart of the ski nation Norway. It makes even seasoned rockers put down their guitar and grab the keyboard.

– For the first time I use this site for something other than my music, writes Åge Aleksandersen on social media. He himself was a promising jumper in his youth, and has retained the great interest in the sport.

He himself has met Clas Brede Bråthen and the national jumping team, and describes it as “an incredibly great experience”.

Aleksandersen now encourages Norwegians to join the Facebook group «Support for Clas Brede Bråthen», which has over 40,000 members. The jump leader is moved.

– Strange that my workplace is dragged through the mud

The public laundry has put Ski-Norge’s reputation to the test. Both athletes and leaders in the sport of jumping and other parts of sports Norway, have made it clear that the quarrel is very harmful and can have major negative ripple effects.

National team coach Eirik Myhr Nossum is among those who have had enough of negative reports.

– First and foremost, I want to say that it is very, very awkward. I have had the enormous pleasure of working in the Norwegian Ski Association. I am proud and happy to work there, and I have been since I was hired. It’s weird that my workplace is being dragged through the mud, Nossum told NTB during Monday’s press conference.

Jumping legend got enough: – Gets run over

On October 9, it became known that the former big jumper Per Bergerud is withdrawing from the jumping committee. The reason was the Ski Association’s treatment of Clas Brede Bråthen.

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to resign as a member of the Jump Committee and thus make my place available. I can no longer accept being part of the Jump Committee that is overrun in this way. I distance myself from how the Ski Association and the ski board treat shop stewards in their own organization, Bergerud wrote in his justification.

The main sponsor of the Norwegian jumpers, LO, has for the time being stopped the payments to the Norwegian Ski Association, which the Norwegian Ski Association is wondering about.

– It is about limiting the loss of reputation that the ski association inflicts on us . For LO, it is very serious that we have come to this situation. The management of the Norwegian Ski Association must bear the full and full responsibility, said LO secretary Are Tomasgard to TV 2 when the news became known.

Worried about the family

The Norwegian Ski Association has prepared a report in which the ski manager’s leadership style, behavior and form of communication are described as unacceptable.

Last week published VG information from an internal memo where it is claimed that Bråthen has come up with gross and harassing personal characteristics of, among others, Secretary General Ingvild Bretten Berg. Bråthen denies this and has requested documentation.

For the jump manager’s immediate family, the conflict must have been a great burden. Bråthen’s wife is said to have recently been diagnosed with cancer.

– It is probably much more difficult for my family than it is for me. It hurts to see my loved ones be so worried about me. I think it’s sad, said Clas Brede Bråthen after the 3.5 hour discussion meeting at the end of last week.
