ARENDAL: The boards of Arendal and Omegns Sparekasse and Østre Agder Sparebank have agreed on a merger agreement. In meetings on 19 April 2022, the boards have agreed on a merger between the banks.

This is announced by the banks in a press release.

The general meeting shall decide on the merger in meetings no later than 25 May 2022.

– We are very pleased that the boards of the banks have agreed on a merger agreement. We look forward to creating a new and future-oriented savings bank for the region. There are still some important milestones, with consideration in the general meetings and government approvals, before we can call ourselves Agder Sparebank, says CEO of Østre Agder Sparebank Nina Holte in the press release.

– We are convinced that this is a solution that is in the best interests of all interest groups, says CEO of Arendal and Omegns Sparekasse Per Olav Nærestad.

The name of the merged bank shall be Agder Sparebank and it shall have a business address in Arendal municipality. It is a premise in the decision that none of the employees should lose their jobs. The offices in Arendal, Gjerstad, Vegårshei, Risør and Tvedestrand will remain.

Nina Marie Holte will be the CEO of the bank (general manager) in Agder Sparebank, while Per Olav Nærestad will be proposed as chairman of the board.
