Agapidaki: I have findings in my chest – He needs monitoring –

The Deputy Minister of Health, Irini Agapidaki, made a profound confession. Speaking to the Parliament about the update of the “Fofi Gennimata” program, he said in a personal tone that he has a suspicious finding, which he wants to monitor, so that if it develops into some kind of malignancy, he can detect it in time. As he characteristically said, “I am also in the Fofi team, I have findings myself”.

Speaking to parliamentary editors, he explained that “he wants monitoring so that if it develops into some kind of malignancy, I can detect it easily”. He added that these are characterized as suspicious and are found in women who have dense breasts. “I said this precisely to encourage women not to be afraid to have their mammograms done. This examination allows us to have control and to be able to prevent problems in time”, he concluded.

In her speech, Irini Agapidaki stated that “over 430,000 digital mammograms and over 27,000 women with findings were identified in time. 45-75 years old who have AMKA regardless of their insurance capacity easily, immediately and free of charge, digital mammogram, ultrasound, clinical examination by a doctor”.

Speaking about the mastografia.gov.gr platform, he emphasized that women are given the opportunity to book an appointment and take exams. “They give an appointment right away, nothing needs to be prescribed, everything is easy and free,” he pointed out. “There is a widespread perception that I don’t do a digital mammogram, I do a palpation. It’s not the same. Digital mammography is not a substitute for palpation. And in my own case, where I have findings, the doctor herself has recommended an ultrasound and digital mammogram. With self-awareness, you can detect it more slowly.”

Tonight from 8 to 11 pm the Parliament will be illuminated with a pink ribbon, the symbol for the prevention of breast cancer. It is reminded that October is prevention month.
