MANCHESTER – Trainer Manchester UnitedOle Gunnar Solskjaer defended the team against criticism from Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi. Solskjaer assessed that each club has a different point of view in making decisions. So Solskjaer emphasized that it is not mandatory for Man United to have a sporting director like other clubs.
Recently, Monchi, who is known as a well-known sports director, issued a satire to Man United. He was surprised that a club the size of Man United did not have a sporting director.

In Monchi’s view, a sporting director is needed for a club, especially to take care of player transfers. For this reason, Monchi is not surprised that Man United often fail to bring in targeted players, as a result of not having a sports director.
Currently, Man United’s vice president, Ed Woodward, is currently handling the transfer of players. It’s just that, Ed Woodward takes care of many things so that transfer problems are often not resolved when held by the man from England.
“So it is difficult for me to understand why a club does not have a sporting director. Logically I believe in the importance of that role. Very important,” said Monchi at the time, quoting from Brand.
