An effective pandemic prevention policy would cost only one-twentieth of the cost of Covid-19 each year. This is one of the main results of a study published on February 4 in Science Advances by 20 researchers from five countries. “We know that we will have more and more emerging viral diseases, which can spread across the planet in a matter of days. We need to act before the viruses infect humans,” says Stuart Pimm, professor of ecology at Duke University (USA), co-author of the work.
