Indonesian U-20 National Team lost 0-2 to Iraq in the first game U-20 Asian Cup in Tashkent, Wednesday (1/3).

The U-20 Indonesian national team showed a balanced game against Iraq. In the first half, Garuda Muda Squad produced as many chances to score as Iraq did.

Unfortunately, the U-20 Indonesian National Team’s opportunities did not end in goals. Instead one opportunity for Iraq could lead to a goal in the 28th minute.

Hayder Abdulkareem managed to fire a left footed shot which led the ball into the goal without being dammed by Daffa Sumanjaya.

At the end of the first half, Iraq had to play with 10 men after Charbel Shamoon received a straight red card. Charbel Shamoon fouled Arkhan Fikri.

Behind 0-1 in the first half, the U-20 Indonesian national team fielded Hugo Samir to increase the pressure in the second half. However, until 15 minutes into the second half, the efforts of the U-20 Indonesian National Team had not produced results.

In the second half, the match also went hard as violations were committed by players from both teams. In the 70th minute, Hugo Samir received a yellow card for tackling an Iraqi player near the penalty box when he was assisting the defence.

In the 73rd minute, Iraq received a penalty after Frengky Missa committed a foul in the forbidden box. Iraqi captain Abdulrazzaq Qasim, who was the executor of the penalty, failed to carry out his duties properly. The shot is sideways on the left side of the goal.

The U-20 Indonesian National Team is trying to maximize the advantage in the number of players. But Iraq was not afraid and just chose to survive.

Iraq chose to continue playing openly so that the situation of attacking each other continued to occur. This also makes the Indonesian National Team unable to confine the opponent’s defense.

During injury time, Resa Aditya penetrated into the penalty box and then fell. The referee considered this as an act of diving and issued a yellow card for Resa.

At the end of time, it was Iraq who successfully increased the advantage to 2-0. Abdulqadir Ayoub’s individual action was well resolved by Mohammed Jameel.
