Berlin. Thousands of people demonstrated against the Corona policy in numerous German cities on Monday evening. Counter-protests also formed in several places. The demonstrations were largely peaceful, according to the police in the various cities. In Bautzen, however, at least three police officers were injured. Cobblestones and bottles were thrown at officers. A total of around 500 people moved through the city. Around 150 to 200 of them were violent hooligans and people from the radical right milieu.

Berlin
In Berlin, people protested against the Corona measures again on Monday. In several places in the city, groups, sometimes with several hundred protesters, roamed the streets. There were also counter-demonstrations in some places. According to the police, there were initially no major disturbances or clashes. As the German Association of Journalists reported on Twitter, “lateral thinkers” and corona deniers again moved to the ZDF capital city studio.

Leipzig
Counter-protests formed in Leipzig in the evening: According to the police, around 300 people gathered on Augustusplatz, where the opponents of the Corona policy had always met in the past few weeks. A small group of opponents of the measures was also there and there were “small emotions”, said a spokesman. In general, however, things have remained peaceful.
An alliance of parties and civil society initiatives called for the counter-protest in Leipzig. The aim was to set an example against ongoing violent corona protests. The action network “Leipzig takes place” had emphasized in its appeal that there was no place in the city “for conspiracy myths, scientific denial, anti-Semitism and contempt for human beings”.
Dresden
According to the police, several hundred people protested against the Corona measures in Dresden. There were no major riots here either. In the area of Leipziger Strasse, however, 150 opponents of the measures met around 70 counter-demonstrators. Here the police prevented an argument, said a spokesman.

In Zwickau, too, participants in an illegal gathering encountered a spontaneous counter-demonstration, the police said. A police chain was pulled to protect the counter-demonstrators. The Saxon police reported protests against the corona measures in a number of other places across the country. In Pirna, Görlitz, Chemnitz or Freiberg, for example, larger gatherings of more than a hundred people each formed. The police have found identities in several places. According to initial estimates, about 700 people gathered in Freiberg, who repeatedly avoided the police, said a spokesman. There, two people damaged a police vehicle. The suspects were identified.
Gera
According to the police, the largest gatherings in Thuringia were in Gera with up to 1,500 people – although there was still an influx in the evening – and in Jena with around 1,000 people. In Erfurt, the police reported a total of around 500 demonstrators.
Jena
Several counter-demonstrations were also formed in Jena in the evening. According to an eyewitness, in at least one case there was a direct encounter between counter-demonstrators and opponents of the measures. But the police quickly intervened. A clash between the two camps was also prevented in other cities in Thuringia, said the police spokesman.

Köln
In Cologne, more than 1000 people took to the streets against the Corona measures. According to the police, the participants in the demonstration gathered on Roncalliplatz next to the cathedral and from there began to march through the city center. The vast majority adhered to the mask requirement on the square, said a police spokesman. He estimated the number of participants to be well over 1000. The registered number of 1500 participants could have been reached.
Gummersbach
According to the police, around 1,800 people demonstrated against compulsory vaccination in Gummersbach in North Rhine-Westphalia. The participants marched through the city center, said a police spokeswoman. The demonstration was peaceful. There were only a few violations of the mask requirement. There have already been demonstrations in Gummersbach in the past few weeks. The WDR reported on the 1800 participants.
Potsdam
After a banned gathering of Corona critics, the police in Potsdam, the personal details of numerous participants were recorded. She pointed out that taking part in a banned demonstration constitutes an administrative offense that will be prosecuted. Despite the ban, hundreds of people gathered in the Brandenburger Strasse area on Monday evening. “Imagine, it’s 3G and nobody goes there,” read the posters, among other things. The police had previously prohibited the meeting because of an immediate threat to public safety and order.

Substitute meetings in other places should not take place either, as a police spokesman emphasized. Scattered small groups then spread out at various places in the city centre. The police were on site with numerous emergency services. A cavalry squadron was also deployed. Policemen on horseback blocked the road, preventing demonstrators from moving on. Counter-demonstrations took place opposite the Potsdam Landtag and at the Nauener Tor, which initially remained peaceful.
Luebeck
More than a thousand people protested in Lübeck peacefully against the Corona restrictions. With banners and banners, the participants marched through the districts of St. Jürgen and St. Gertrud into Lübeck’s old town. There they circled the town hall and returned to the starting point. On the banners they demanded, among other things, a free vaccination decision. Others had garlands of colorful lights wrapped around their bodies. Mainz
In Mainz, the police reported a registered demonstration by Corona critics with around 200 participants and a stationary counter-demo with almost 80 people. There were also meetings in Oppenheim and Bodenheim in Rhineland-Palatinate. Larger gatherings were expected in Bad Kreuznach and in Worms. There were no major police interventions. However, violations of the Corona regulation, for example when wearing a mask, were registered.

According to the police, around 250 corona critics gathered in Landau and Bad Dürkheim. In Bellheim there were around 200, in Deidesheim around 100. Some of the events had been registered, others not, said a police spokesman in Ludwigshafen. So far everything has been peaceful. Most people wore masks.
Rostock
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Several thousand people also demonstrated again against corona restrictions and compulsory vaccination. In Rostock, Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Waren, Röbel and Greifswald, among others, people took to the streets to protest, police spokesmen said. According to initial estimates, at least 8,000 people took part, but the events have only just begun in many cities. Counter-demonstrations were also announced in Rostock and Greifswald.
Fulda
In Hesse, there have also been demonstrations in various cities against the Corona measures. In Fulda, up to 1,000 people were out and about unannounced, said a spokesman for the Fulda police in the evening. So far it has remained peaceful. “There was no rioting,” said the spokesman. In addition, 50 to 80 vehicles drove through the city in a registered parade.

Darmstadt
In Darmstadt, the police reported an argument between two groups of people. The exact background is still being determined, but is likely to be related to different opinions on the corona regulations, said a spokesman. There had previously been a registered vigil by Corona critics in the city and also a counter-demo. Numbers of participants were not initially available.
Wangen in the Allgaeu
In the southwest, too, numerous people demonstrated again against the corona measures. In Wangen im Allgäu alone, around 1,000 people gathered on Monday, the event had not been registered, a police spokeswoman reported in Ravensburg in the evening. At the – mostly unannounced meetings – in the region there were initially no special incidents.
There were also meetings in Schwetzingen (Rhein-Neckar district) and in Heidelberg, as reported by the police in Mannheim. A registered event on the subject of “Solidarity in the Pandemic” took place in Mannheim without any particular incidents. A police spokesman in Reutlingen reported meetings in around 40 places in the region. Several hundred people met in Balingen.

Braunschweig
According to an initial police estimate, around 500 people gathered on the cathedral square in Braunschweig. A few meters away, a group tried to break through a police line in the city center, said police spokesman Dirk Oppermann. According to him, several people were provisionally arrested in order to be able to initiate the identities for criminal proceedings for breach of the peace.
Since, according to the police, no leader of the meeting reported, the officials restricted the meeting to the fact that it was only allowed to take place in an inpatient setting. A few people from the group were arrested and taken away. “These cases were about administrative offences, mostly the mask requirement was violated,” said Oppermann. After a little more than an hour, the square in the city center was empty again.
Hannover
In the Lower Saxony state capital of Hanover, there were ten unregistered demonstrations against the Corona policy on Monday evening, as a police spokesman said. According to the police, around 400 people were out and about in the center of Verden and demonstrated, among other things, with posters against the Corona measures. In Nordenham, the police counted around 60 participants and in Brake around 30 people.
In several other cities, the police reported unannounced gatherings, which officials said were mostly peaceful. But there were also reported meetings, such as in Hildesheim, where, according to the police, around 200 people met on Andreasplatz.
