Last night was the warmest night of December 30 to 31 ever measured in the Netherlands. A temperature of 14.4 degrees was measured in De Bilt. But it was a bit warmer in Brabant, Wouter van Bernebeek of Weerplaza said on Friday morning. “In some places it was almost 15 degrees!” This means that the record that was set the night before is already a thing of the past.
“It is very soft”, Wouter told the radio program WAKKER! on Omroep Brabant. “You could easily wear a summer jacket, provided you are not too cold-tempered.”

On Friday afternoon it will be 14 or 15 degrees again in most places. “It is reasonably cloudy, but mainly dry. This is also the case on New Year’s Eve and during the New Year. Perhaps some mist or fog will form in the west, but otherwise there is really very little going on. It is around midnight 12 or 13 degrees.”
The new year is also off to a good start. “We will occasionally see the sun on Saturday and then it will again be 15 degrees locally. But on Sunday the chance of a few showers will increase. Some thunderstorms may also occur, partly because of the high temperatures for the time of year Then it gets a little less mild, with 12 or 13 degrees.”

Temperatures will drop further after the weekend. “Halfway next week we will have afternoon temperatures of around 7 degrees. But this is also too mild for the time of year. Frost in the night and morning is not possible for the time being. Winter is far away.”
