Again problems with partying young people on the Main

As on previous weekends, the Würzburg police also had to focus on the many calls about disturbances along the east bank of the Main on Friday and Saturday nights. In the sometimes mixed weather, hundreds of people stayed from the Adenauer Brücke to the height of the Congress Centrum until late at night.

Focus on Kranenkai

A problem area was the narrow section immediately after the Mainmühle to the old crane, the so-called Kranenkai, said the police. While the majority of the people behaved sensibly in the other areas, the jukeboxes had to be secured for some unteachable people there, a total of 23 in number on both days.

Main quay temporarily closed

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the road was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic due to the large number of partiers at Kranenkai. Hundreds of mostly young people crowded there, some of them considerably drunk, in poor lighting conditions and extremely narrow sidewalks, so dangerous situations kept coming up.

Drunk scooter drivers

During the night, the police checked several e-scooter drivers. At the Bridge of German Unity, two 26-year-old Würzburgers were not allowed to continue because they were both heavily intoxicated. The breath alcohol values each resulted in values beyond 1 per mille. For a 22-year-old woman from Würzburg, the e-scooter ride also ended due to alcohol after an inspection in Stephanstraße. A breath alcohol test showed a value of 0.74 per thousand.

Nocturnal alcohol ban in conversation

The city of Würzburg is thinking specifically about a nocturnal alcohol ban on the “Corona party miles” in the green spaces along the Main. The city wanted that depending on whether there were any more rule violations at the weekend. The police and the municipal security service, in particular, are confronted with unpleasant situations and have been carrying out regular checks at the hotspots along the Main since the warmer season began. For weeks there have been problems with an aggressive mood, noise pollution and mountains of rubbish.
