In the city of Freiburg, the unemployment rate rose by 0.3 points to 4.1 percent. The increase was above average for July.
The number of unemployed in the district of the Freiburg employment agency (Freiburg city, Breisgau Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen districts) rose again in July. As reported by the employment agency, 13,449 women and men were unemployed as of the reporting date. That is 582 people more than a month earlier. The unemployment rate rose by 0.2 points to 3.6 percent. For women and men under the age of 25, it is 2.4 percent after 2.1 percent in June. The increase was above average for July. In the urban district of Freiburg, 9,215 people were registered as unemployed, the rate rose by 0.3 percentage points to 4.1 percent.
The number of unemployed with a Ukrainian passport increased again by 257 people to 1167 in the agency district. In April there were 40. At the invitation of the agency’s managing director, Andreas Finke, representatives from business, politics and administration met on August 2nd for the “Ukraine Round Table”. “We want to align our services and offers for refugees even more with regional needs,” says Finke.
Demand for labor has eased somewhat; the companies reported 1119 job vacancies. That is 379 or 25.3 percent less than a year ago. On the other hand, the applicant gap continues to grow on the training market. Two years ago there were 118 applicants for 100 positions, now there are only 86.
