WSince the Hessian health authorities have reported comparatively few new confirmed cases to the Robert Koch Institute since the Christmas holidays, the central corona value is falling in many places in Hesse. A number of circles have slipped below the critical 200 mark. However, their citizens cannot hope for a lifting of the curfew, insofar as it applies in cities and districts of the Rhine-Main area. Both the district office of the Darmstadt-Dieburg district and that of the Offenbach district said that the new numbers were not reliable enough. The Bergstrasse district also refers to the restrictions on its homepage. The Fulda district also remains in the curfew. The same applies to the neighboring district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg.

A spokesman for the Darmstadt-Dieburg district said that the curfew should generally be lifted if the incidence is below 200 positive tests that have accrued within a week for five days in a row under 100,000 residents, but the data will not be looked at again until Monday. The Offenbach district pointed out that, according to a recommendation by the state, the value before the holidays is decisive for the curfew. However, this was at 213, i.e. above the limit.
The reluctance of the circles is plausible. Because only at first glance does the news from the Robert Koch Institute about the new positive corona tests from Hesse appear positive. Once again, the federal institute responsible for combating the epidemic reports only a manageable three-digit number of new infections and also fewer cases than a week ago. As a result, the country’s corona map brightens up. There are therefore only three circles on the black warning level of the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs (see grafic).
Less samples taken
At second glance, however, the picture darkens. Because the numbers are only of limited significance. According to the RKI, fewer people went to a doctor or a test center during the Christmas holidays than on the days before. As a result, fewer samples were taken and fewer laboratory tests were carried out. “This means that fewer pathogens are reported to the responsible health authorities. On the other hand, it may be that not all health authorities and responsible state authorities transmit to the RKI every day. “
The number of people who died of or with Covid-19 can be seen independently of this. On Tuesday, 71 more corona deaths were recorded after 53 a week ago. There are comparatively many. The daily high for Hessen is 91.
From Hesse, health authorities reported 400 more corona infections to the RKI overnight. That’s 276 less than a week ago. Overall, the number of cases registered since the beginning of the pandemic is 132,204. 2582 Covid deaths have since been mourned. By October 1, the institute was only aware of 19,000 positive tests and 551 deaths. This shows the dynamics of the pandemic since autumn. The central Corona code, which results from the positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants that have accumulated over the past seven days, is currently 139.1 in Hesse. A week ago the so-called incidence was 199.
Hesse’s corona test centers have cope with the increasing demand for Covid-19 tests after the Christmas break. The capacities would have been sufficient, said a spokeswoman for the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians for the dpa news agency in Frankfurt: “The figures show us: Yes, it was more than before Christmas, but only a few people had to be sent away.” According to the KV, the 16 test centers were on Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After that, at least some of them were open temporarily.
