After five singles in six days, supplemented with some double games, Kim Clijsters built in two days of rest in the World Team Tennis on Monday and Tuesday. The 37-year-old from Limburg takes a cautious approach, given the full program – eight games in ten days – that still awaits her in West Virginia.

The former world number one participates as a member of the New York Empire in the World Team Tennis event, a mixed team tournament that runs between July 12 and August 2. With a victory against Sofia Kenin, the winner of the Australian Open 2020, Clijsters has already surprised many observers. She also won her four other singles. However, she stayed aside Monday and Tuesday. Clijsters – supporting her teammates, carrying balls, racket in hand – was present in tennis gear on the Center Court of the Greenbrier complex. It remains to be seen whether she will enter the field again on Wednesday against the San Diego Aviators.
