Again in chrome red and with the number 99: DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT shows Formula E car for 2022

Just a few days after the announcement of the driver duo Sergio Sette Camara and Antonio Giovinazzi, DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT showed the wrapping for the Formula E World Championship 2022 on its Instagram account on Saturday evening.

As in 2021, Jay Penske’s team will remain true to its chrome red and white foiling in the coming season, with the red portion of the foiling again forming a check pattern. The lines remain almost unchanged, but the matt white color is replaced by a glossy variant.

The team did without an official presentation or press release.

Since the start number 99 can be seen on the vehicle, with which Giovinazzi is currently still competing in Formula 1, it can be assumed that Porsche has approved it. Last season, Pascal Wehrlein drove with the number 99 after his former employer Mahindra kept “his” number 94 and used it for Alex Lynn. The assumption is therefore that Wehrlein will compete again next year with starting number 94.

From a technical point of view, the “Penske EV-5” is identical to the previous year’s car. Like all the other teams, the US-Americans still have to start with the drivetrain homologated for 2021 in season 8 before a completely newly developed electric racing car can start the Gen3 era at the end of next year. The drive for the team’s Gen3 racing car is being developed by the German automotive supplier Bosch.

“Subtle and minor changes to last year’s paint job, but with the focus on creating an identity for the team and improving what we thought was the best paint job on the grid last year,” says designer Sean Bull, describing his work on his Twitter account. “A change to glossy white instead of matt white and some very small adjustments to the lines in order to achieve a better color flow with our double diamond graphic from all angles should make these stand out even more.”

He adds: “I am very proud to have created this design and this identity for the team. I have to say that it is still my personal favorite design that I have created. Antonio Giovinazzi and Sergio Sette Camara this design in the To see them race next season will be very special. “

The racing car will be on public display for the first time on November 29 at the upcoming Formula E preseason test drives in Valencia, Spain.
