Again Erdogan slams Macron, why?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan again criticized the President of France Emmanuel Macron regarding his attitude of backing up groups that often defame religion.

Quoted from the Daily Sabah, he made this point in a video message at the 23rd annual convention of the Muslim Society of the United States (US) on Saturday (30/11/2020).

“You have followed closely the atrocities in France against the Prophet (Muhammad) under the label ‘freedom of thought’. Insulting the holy figure is far from freedom. Because his thinking is different, insults are different,” Erdogan said.

In addition, he described Islamophobia as a disease that spreads faster than the coronavirus, Erdogan said that a culture of racism and intolerance is very real in countries that uphold democracy.

On the same occasion he also promised to guarantee freedom of religion in Turkey

“We strive to follow balanced, fair and confident policies that will set an example for all humanity, especially regarding religious freedom. We don’t interfere with anyone’s beliefs or lifestyle, and we guarantee freedom of worship for all of our citizens,” he said. Erdogan.

Erdogan is currently actively denouncing any act of religious insults, especially Islam, around the world. He felt insulted by people’s beliefs had nothing to do with freedom. This he said after the Muslim community received a lot of criticism in the western world about freedom of opinion.
