The talk is of 1307, that is almost eleven percent of the cases recorded overnight in the federal government. Hesse only makes up eight percent of the total population. In the infection ranking list of the federal states, Hessen ranks fourth behind North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Baden-Wüttemberg. Lower Saxony, which is significantly more populous, is in a better position.

In Frankfurt, the central parameter, the seven-day incidence, jumped noticeably up again overnight. After almost 200 on Sunday, according to the RKI, it is currently a good 235, which is a very high value in comparison. In neighboring Offenbach it even rose from 232 to 258. The Hessian and apparently also German hotspot par excellence is in Central Hesse: The Marburg-Biedenkopf district has an incidence of almost 295. Wiesbaden has 191 new cases within a week with less than 100,000 inhabitants, Darmstadt 169 and the Groß-Gerau district 187. The Main-Taunus district has an incidence of 174 and the Hochtaunus one of 123. The whole of southern Hesse is up the highest warning level according to the country’s escalation concept (see grafic). No rural district in Hesse has an incidence below the critical mark of 50 any more. This is true for the big cities anyway.
There are nine new corona victims. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March, their number has officially added up to 663. Since then, the Hessian health authorities have reported a total of 43,379 infected people. A month ago, just over 19,000 infections and 551 deaths in connection with the pandemic were known. The comparison of the data shows the very high dynamics of the infection process. As part of this, the Hessian clinics are increasingly caring for corona patients in intensive care units and ventilating them.
Every day, however, the group of people who come from their Corona infection are considered recovered. The RKI is now assuming 26,100. That is 700 more than the day before, a strikingly high increase. Just two weeks ago, around 200 people had recovered overnight, and this indicator has been picking up speed since then. That in turn was likely to have been due to the previously sharp rise in new cases. Because: A corona infection is generally considered to be over after two weeks. Anyone who then does not receive medical care or who dies is considered cured. However, the RKI only estimates the number of people who have recovered; it is not officially recorded due to the lack of reliable data and in view of the unreported number of infections without symptoms.
Stricter rules
Because of the sharp increase in the number of infections, new stricter rules apply to the population in Hesse from this Monday. These include clear contact restrictions for people in public and the extensive closure of leisure facilities such as theaters, operas and concert halls.
Even restaurants have to close according to the new regulation of the black-green state government and are only allowed to deliver or offer food for pickup. Sports clubs must also take a break, swimming pools and fun pools are not allowed to open. Retail, schools and daycare centers, on the other hand, should remain open in principle.
