Who hasn’t succumbed to the charm of these round and brightly colored sponges at least once? Keeping them hanging in the shower box makes the environment more beautiful, making the moment you wash more cheerful. Yet, precisely because they are dedicated to washing the body, these harmless-looking sponges are highly not recommended by dermatologists.

The reason? It seems that after each wash, the dead cells removed by rubbing remain trapped in the net that forms the sponge. The hot and humid environment in which it remains for hours then does the rest, letting the proliferate battery and thus giving space to the formation of yeasts e molds. A problem that becomes even greater for those who are also used to shaving in the shower.

In fact, using these sponges immediately after hair removal seems to increase the risk of skin infections, which at that moment are more delicate and exposed. So what if, despite the dermatologists’ warnings, you still want to continue using them?

The only solution is to put in place proper cleaning sponges, washing them carefully after each shower and drying them thoroughly before hanging them back in the shower compartment.

Obviously, even with this precaution, it is advisable to change them frequently and pass them under water and vinegar at least once a week, in order to disinfect them.
In this way, washing will be less dangerous and you will be sure to ward off bacteria instead of giving it more space.
