After “Wonder Woman 1984” comes Supergirl: Actress for new DC movie heroine is certain – Kino News

Soap star Sahsa Calle, hitherto unknown in this country, is the new cinema “Supergirl” in the DC universe. The actress will make her first appearance in the film “The Flash” opposite Ezra Miller. Further appearances are to follow.

In a big casting process, DC found an actress for Supergirl in the cinema universe. Over 425 actresses are said to have auditioned at digital meetings via Zoom before a decision was made.

Sasha Calle becomes a supergirl

This ended up falling on Sasha Calle. In the USA, the actress is known for the daily soap “The Young And The Restless”, where she has played a cook and business owner since 2018. This also earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2020.

For Calle, the part as Supergirl is the first ever film role. Another premiere: The American with Colombian ancestry will also be the first DC Supergirl version with Latin American roots.

The casting was directed by DC film boss Walter Hamada and director Andy Muschietti (“ES”), as he will direct the character’s first appearance. Calle will make her debut in the upcoming “The Flash” movie alongside Ezra Miller (as the title character) and Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton (as two different versions of Batman).

Muschietti then also stated in a statement that in Calle they had found an actress who was simply destined for this role. The filmmaker posted a video on Instagram how he surprised the actress with the news that she had the role and had a little fun with her. Big plans for Supergirl

Warner hopes the actress will now have a great career as a supergirl. As a comparison, “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot is already mentioned, who despite a small role in the “Fast & Furious” franchise was still relatively unknown when she first brought Zack Snyder on board for “Batman V Superman”. With “Wonder Woman 1984” her second solo film has just finally been released in Germany.

Solo films should also wait for new supergirl Sasha Calle after appearing in “The Flash”. After all, DC is planning a major offensive that will put competitor Marvel in the shade.

As early as 2022, up to six DC films are to be released per year – four in the cinema, two on the HBO Max streaming service.

Next comes James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” (planned German theatrical release: August 5, 2021), in 2022 next to “The Flash“Including” The Batman “as well as” Black Adam “and” Aquaman 2 “will follow.

According to current plans, “The Flash” with Sasha Calle will hit the cinemas on November 3, 2022.
