Sports analyst David Faitelson has released details about the controversial veto he faces from boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez.

In an interview for a sports newspaper, Faitelson revealed that the boxer did have influence on the veto, but both he and his company, Televisa, are working to find alternative solutions and thus be able to participate in the coverage of the fight, either from within or out of the sand.

“Televisa has tried in every way to get me accreditation. If it cannot be achieved, we will find a formula so that I am participating in the broadcast, not within the arena,” said Faitelson.

With the weigh-in ceremony scheduled for this Friday and the fight on Saturday, Faitelson and Televisa find themselves at a crossroads, having to make a crucial decision: return to Mexico to intervene from a forum or remain in Las Vegas and make their interventions from somewhere from this city.

“Televisa wants me to be on the broadcast, it is making an effort and I am very grateful for its support. Another company would have said ‘Canelo owns the circus and if he doesn’t want to, you’re not here,’” said the journalist, highlighting the support of his employer in this situation.

Faitelson said that it was on Wednesday, upon arriving at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, that he learned that he had been denied accreditation for the conferences, the weigh-in ceremony and the fight. Since then, Televisa has been defending his position, seeking to ensure his participation in the coverage of the fight between Canelo and Munguía.

“First they sought negotiation when they saw that that possibility did not exist, now they are looking for a solution, if I return to Mexico to participate from there or if we do it from here, I am in the dilemma of taking tomorrow’s flight back to Mexico,” he added.
