After Utah also mysterious monolith in Romania: ‘Made by a bad welder’ | Abroad

A mysterious metal monolith has appeared on a mountain top in northern Romania and disappeared after four days. The column was discovered just days later than the column in the desert of the US state of Utah, which received a lot of media attention.

The object had stood in the mountainous province of Neam in a protected archaeological area since November 27. In the comments on social media, the metal object was compared to the monolith who rather popped up and disappeared in Utah, although Romanian sheet metal construction was criticized for poor welding.

“An unidentified person, apparently a bad local welder, made it,” said local journalist Robert Iosub. As suddenly as the structure appeared, it disappeared again on Tuesday. “There is now only a small pit covered with rocky ground left.”

Crazy about monolith

The monolith discovered in November in the desert of the US state of Utah is now also disappeared. Local authorities stated last weekend that the object had been removed “by an unknown third party.”

The metal column of about 3.5 meters was discovered by the crew of a helicopter flying over the area. Nobody knows where the object comes from or who owns it. The crew of the helicopter speculated that it may have been left behind by an artist or aliens.

Just 48 hours after the news got out, photos of it appeared on social media intrepid travelers. One of the first in that battle for the unique photos was 33-year-old David Surber, a former US Army officer. He drove through the night desert for six hours to find the bizarre object.
