The sci-fi story of the Na’vi people on the planet Pandora is therefore certainly not over with the public. In the first film, the Na’vi were able to defeat the humans who tried to take over their planet. Private Jake Sully, who fell in love with the native Neytiri, remained on the planet. The sequel picks up ten years later. Sully and Neytiri started a family together. But then an old enemy shows up and they have to flee.
Much of the film takes place underwater. It was a technical feat, because moving caption underwater has never been done before. With motion captions, the movements and emotions of the actors are recorded and converted into hyper-realistic 3D animations. This is the first time this has happened with diving equipment. According to our film connoisseur Lieven Van Gils, this is a breathtaking sight.
The box office success of the second film is good news for Cameron. After all, he has a few sequels planned: Part 3 will be released in 2024, Part 4 in 2026 and Part 5 in 2028.
