Laughter and in good spirits, Pope Francis left the Gemelli hospitalin Rome, after being admitted last Wednesday due to infectious bronchitis and for which millions of faithful around the world cared.
Pope wanted to say hello to those who were standing guard outside the hospital, as well as to the journalists who informed the world about their health these days and got out of the car in which he would be transferred to the Vatican, where he will offer the traditional mass on Palm Sunday in Saint Peter’s Square this weekend.
‘I’m still alive’
When asked by journalists at the Gemelli hospital how he felt about leaving for the Vatican, Pope Francis joked and replied: “I’m still alive, you know? An old man, older than me, told me after a situation like this: ‘Father, I did not see death, but I saw it coming. It’s ugly, huh!“.
Pope Francis gave the world a scare when he was transferred last Wednesday to the Gemelli hospital to treat infectious bronchitis for which they were forced to give him antibiotics.
Bronchitis and its symptoms
Pope Francis he had already suffered from respiratory problemssince he had a lung removed as a young man after suffering from severe pneumonia, so these types of conditions tend to be a little more complicated.
