Thor: Love & Thunder has just been released in cinemas, and there is already good news again. Anyone who has watched the film to the end – and we really mean to the end – not only received a bonus scene after the credits, but can also look forward to particularly good news: “Thor will return” (translated: Thor will to return).
It is therefore clear that actor Chris Hemsworth has not yet completed his role as the Norse god in the Marvel Universe. But how does the story of the god of thunder continue? Caution: If you haven’t seen Thor 4 yet, you have to be prepared for some spoilers!
Thrilling adventures in Thor: Love & Thunder
In the latest part of the Thor series, the Norse god had to face numerous obstacles. His hammer, Mjolnir, has left him, and his quest for the meaning of life has so far borne no fruit. After surrendering his throne to Valkyrie in Avengers: Endgame, he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy and fights villains on distant planets with them. However, when he gets an emergency call from an old friend, the “Space Viking” sets out to rescue her and is drawn into a dangerous mission in the process. While fighting alongside Valkyrie against the godslayer Gorr, his beloved hammer suddenly flies through the air, not landing in his hand but in that of his ex-girlfriend Jane, who has suddenly transformed into a female Thor. The end of the film gives the first clues
As anyone who has seen the movie knows, Jane must summon up the last of her strength to destroy Gorr’s sword. He still finds his way through the portal to eternity and can now express his wish. However, instead of following his original plan and wishing that all the gods were destroyed, he wishes for his daughter back. While succumbing to his injuries, Thor takes care of her and names her Love. He seems to be completely absorbed in his new role, because the two not only eat pancakes together, but also face numerous dangers with hammer and axe. That’s why Love will definitely be part of the plot in the next movie.
As always, there were two scenes after the credits that provide information about further productions. In the first scene you can see that the god Zeus, whom Thor killed in the film, survived and now Hercules has set on the god of thunder. In another scene, we also learn that Jane ended up in Valhalla for her bravery and is now allowed to spend the rest of her days there with other heroes like Heimdall. Or maybe there is a way for the deceased to return to earth?
Thor and Loki as the most popular gods
Thor and Loki are particularly popular with Marvel fans. Because of this, there was quite a bit of surprise when it was announced that Loki would not be at Thor’s side for the first time. Actually that’s logical, after all Loki died (multiple times) in Avengers: Endgame. However, the filmmakers have come up with a good trick and let the god of practical jokes escape through a loophole in the time travel. The popular character now lives on in his own series, so he could return to the world of Thor – fans would definitely like it.
Thor and Loki are not only popular favorites in Marvel, but are also often portrayed in other Norse mythology tales. That’s how you become in the new Part of God of War Ragnarök had to fight against the thunder god, while Atreus revealed himself as Loki through a prophecy. In the Ragnarök series on Netflix, the two protagonists turn out to be reincarnations of the two gods.
