In its supervisory activities, NB applies an approach that ensures that domestic banks, which are subsidiaries of banks from the EU, focus primarily on business in the Czech Republic and operate as an independent institution independent of their parent companies in terms of financial resources and capital. The domestic bank is mainly financed by the deposits of its clients, and in summary, the volume of client deposits of the banks exceeds the volume of their assets.
In the Czech banking sector, banks with a business model similar to banks that got into trouble in the US do not operate. Domestic banks have virtually no financial connection with American banks, which have run into problems, both for pay and for the parent company of domestic banks. The domestic bank also does not have a significant financial connection with Credit Suisse bank, which led to a significant drop in the share price today.
