Co-organized by Zambia, Costa Rica, the Netherlands and the Republic of Korea, the Summit, the second of its kind after that organized by the United States in 2021, will be held this year under the theme: “Elections free, fair and transparent as the basis of democratic governance”.
“Zambia will host the March 2023 Democracy Summit, given its strong foundation in democratic governance,” Bwalya said.
He added that the Summit will offer Zambia the opportunity to show its democratic achievements and its ability to resolve disputes and respect the rights and freedoms of all citizens. Ms. Bwalya also underlined that Zambia is a good example of democratic governance and peaceful transfer of power.

“The co-organizers were selected because of the leadership they showed during the year of action when the initiative was first launched.”
“Invitations had been sent to twenty-two countries, including neighboring countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Botswana and Tanzania,” the Zambian official said, assuring that preparations for the event had reached an advanced stage and that the choice of venue and other logistics to accommodate the participants had been settled.
